ABOUT THE AUTHORS
Snow Like Ashes
GAME OF THRONES meets GRACELING in this striking fantasy tale of dark magic,
dangerous politics, and discovering your true self, from debut author Sara Raasch. The first of a trilogy, Kirkus called it a “carefully crafted fantasy grapples with intense issues...a satisfying read.” School Library Journal raved “the plot and writing are superlative...Highly recommended.” SARAH RAASCH has known she was destined for bookish things since the age of five, when her friends had a lemonade stand and she tagged along to sell her hand-drawn picture books too. Not much has changed since then—her friends still cock concerned eyebrows when she attempts to draw things and her enthusiasm for the written word still l drives her to extreme measures. This is her debut book. It does not feature her hand-drawn pictures. She can be found on Twitter at @seesarawrite.
The Wicked Will RiseIn the New York Times bestselling DOROTHY MUST DIE,
pink-haired trailer park outcast Amy Gumm got swept up from Kansas and landed in the magical Land of Oz, only to discover that it had transformed into a savage dystopia under Dorothy’s rule. In this second installment, THE WICKED WILL RISE, Amy has joined up with the Revolutionary Order of the Wicked – a group of dispossessed witches and warlocks – to take the tyrannical Dorothy down. The Order has defeated her evil henchman, the Tin Woodman, but Dorothy is still out there somewhere – alive and well. Only one thing is for certain: the Wicked will rise again. But who is really Wicked—and whose side is Amy on?
DANIELLE PAIGE Before turning to young adult literature, she worked in the
television industry where she received a Writers Guild of America award and was nominated for several Daytime Emmys. You can find her on Twitter @daniellempaige.
The Cemetery Boys
A dark and darkly funny coming-of-age story about a boy named Stephen who moves to a nowhere town and falls in with the wrong crowd of kids. Stephen has to decide what he believes, where his allegiances lie, and who will really be his friend in the end. Part Hitchcock, part Hinton, this first-ever stand-alone novel from Heather Brewer uses classic horror elements to tell a darkly funny coming-of-age story about the dangerous power of belief and the cost of blind loyalty.
HEATHER BREWER is the New York Times bestselling author of The Chronicles of
Vladimir Tod, which has sold more than 1.5 million copies around the world, as well as the spin-off series, The Slayer Chronicles. She is a vocal anti-bullying advocate, and organized the “Less Than Three” conference for YA authors and teens to come together and speak about bullying issues. Heather lives in Bridgeton, Missouri, with her husband, daughter, and diabolical cats. Her son, Jacob, started college this year. Visit Heather online at www.heatherbrewer.com or on Twitter @heatherbrewer.
Red Queen
The first in a trilogy where readers are dropped into a world defined by the color of your
blood – Reds, lowly commoners, and Silvers, the elite royalty who exhibit spectacular abilities. But what happens when Mare, a Red, finds she has abilities of her own? Intrigue, uprising, and lots of betrayal. It’s “an inventive, character-driven twist [that] breathes new life into tired fantasy trends” (Kirkus Reviews). This is screenwriter Aveyard’s debut, which has already been snapped up by Universal with book rights sold in 19+ countries, and named an Indies Introduce pick.
VICTORIA AVEYARD After growing up in small town Massachusetts, Victoria attended
the University of Southern California in Los Angeles. She graduated with a BFA in Screenwriting, which is exactly the degree being sought after in a recession. She tries her best to combine her love of history, explosions, and butt-kicking heroines in her writing. Her hobbies include the impossible task of predicting what happens next in A Song of Ice and Fire, road trips, and burning through Netflix.
